One of my bad habits is cracking my neck and spine. So many times when I'm tense I move my head from side to side and hear a loud series of cracks in my neck and the tension just melts away.
Same with my spine, I can twist my body a certain way and feel and hear my lower spine crack. After that, it feels like a ton has been lifted off of me.
Anyone else like to crack their own backs and neck, (or any other part of their anatomy?)

I got an invite to take a tour of the new Mormon temple
by I quit! inthis is the only time a non-mormon can get to see the inside of one of them.
once they are consecrated (i think that is what they call it) you can't get in unless you are a mormon wearring the special underwear and other requirements.
even mormons don't get in there very often.

When the Mormon Temple opened in Washington DC, they had the temple open to outsiders for a period of time. But, when they closed it to the public, they took down all of the "adornements" and had them replaced, saying that the unclean had touched them, therefore they have to be replaced.

I downloaded part one of the symposium and watched only about 3 1/2 min. of it, when...almost instictively...my mind started to wander and I proceeded to get lost in my own thoughts as I heard the speaker drone on and on about some (slightly revised) babble we've heard 1000 times or more.
And I thought... Those poor bastards, being practically forced in attending the assembly, and then, just having to SIT there, pretend to look interested, while being board to tears.
There are children being fussy and crying, some getting hit because some parents force them to sit in an uncomfortable seat for several hours with nothing to do but listen to something you just don't understand....People getting up to go to the rest rooms, not because they have to go, but just to do something that would hopefully make time fly just a little faster.
And I thought.....Thank God I'm not there. -

Am I a Sucker?
by El Kabong inthe other day, my wife ran into a girl who she used to babysit for and is now 19 years old.
i remember when this girl used to come to our house, she was always such a little sweetheart.
she always kind of reminded me of a little doll, just tossed in the corner and forgotten.

G Money. Excellent point. One I intend for her to find out. I had a talk with her today regarding getting medical insurance. I think she needs some sort of vocational guidance and/or assistance. I think our state may be able to help. It's worth at least a phone call or two. But, SHE has to do the leg work. I will only act as an advisor of sorts.

Thank you all for your responses.
I cannot understand how a parent can throw out one of their children out into the world when they know they are just not prepared for it.
It's like throwing a raw leg of lamb into a lion's cage.
I don't know. I'm not their judge.
Thank you all for the encouragement and for all your comments. -

Slavery? A bit harsh there don't you think? A slave is someone who is FORCED to work for another person. She's free to go if she wishes, I'm not holding her here.

Satanus. Thanks for sharing your story.
We have already taken her to the Target to fill out an application. She did get the job, but she is waiting for the results of her Background and Drug Test. (That should tell us alot as well..).
Once she get's a steady income, we plan on having her set up a bank account and teach her how to manage her money. (My wife is going to teach her that???? LOL) So far, she seems to be willing to learn. -

Hi Six. Nothing really. It's just my paranoia in the way I guess.
I've heard of people opening their homes to people who seemed to need help, only to have it
blow up in their face. I guess I'm trying to be careful. That's all.. -

The other day, my wife ran into a girl who she used to babysit for and is now 19 years old.
I remember when this girl used to come to our house, she was always such a little sweetheart.
She always kind of reminded me of a little doll, just tossed in the corner and forgotten. Hair messed up, clothes wrinkled. So, when she would be dropped off, My Wife would brush her hair, fix her clothes, and doll her up a little. We always knew that there was something "different" about this girl. She does have a lot of Autistic characteristics. Her and my son, who is about her age, always got along well, as my Son is also Autistic.
So, the family moves away from the neighborhood, and other than exchanging xmas cards with each other, and seeing each other occasionally at the supermarket, we kind of lost touch with the family.
So, the other day, My Wife see's this girl walking near one of the shopping centers around our town, and stopped to say hello to her. The girl was so happy to see her, and she was invited for dinner at our house.
It turns out that as soon as this girl turned 18, her parents kicked her out of the house, saying, you are 18 now, you have to live on your own. So, she got an apartment, but could not keep a job. So, when we met her, she was on the verge of being evicted from her apartment. She really was just waiting for the sherriff to come. She even produced the papers to show that she was being evicted. She was worried cause she really does not have anyplace to go. She certainly doesn't want to go and live on the street. She said that she's had to do that before she got the apartment. When she called her Mother to tell her of her situation, her mother just said, "Well, good luck to you". Just as a side note, Her Mother is a Catholic, but not a "regular" Catholic who only go to Mass once or twice a year, but one of the full blown Holy Roller type.
So, knowing that she is about to be evicted, we....(here it comes).....offered for her to stay with us. We have a finished basement, and a spare queen size bed. I know she doesn't have any money, so in exchange for her room and board, she will just have some chores to do around the house, like cut the grass in the backyard, wash dishes, just normal household chores that need to be done anyway.
I guess the biggest fear I have is that we are somehow being conned. We really feel sorry for this girl, and we know she's different. I can't knowingly let her live out in the street. The least I can do is help her get on her feet a little.
I guess I just need a little reassurance.... -

Movies to make a JW THINK
by M.J. ini've heard various suggestions of movies to show a dub.. those of us with a spouse / family in the borg might find it pretty useful to rent such movies as just another way of chipping away at the indoctrination, or drawing attention to the wts control tactics.. one movie i saw which was somewhat helpful was one called "equilibrium", which was suggested on this board a while back.
its about a society that has acheived peace and order by requiring everyone to repress their emotions through sedatory drugs.
the good thing about this one was when it showed how everyone was so indoctrinated to follow the directives of the organization in charge, with every person keeping an eye on everyone else.

That movie Uitgesloten sounds great. I've never heard of it before, I would LOVE to see it.
But, it's not available on Amazon. Damn, I'm gonna have to search around for this title.
